GRASKOP CLIMATE

The mist belt, which stretches along the escarpment, is caused by warm moisture-laden air rising up from the Lowveld and cooling at these high elevations, resulting in misty, cloudy conditions and a relative high rainfall. As the reserve stretches further away from the escarpment edge, the rainfall and mist diminish.

Atop the plateau the summers are temperate and the winters cold with frost in places. Swadini is pleasantly warm in winter but scorching in summer, although it is sometimes cool after rain.
